Eductors are an effective way to move liquids, gases and solids. Eductors are also known as ejectors, injectors, jet pumps and venturi pumps.
Eductors are widely used in the petrochemical, process, mining and power industries for pumping, mixing and heating. They are popular because they have no moving parts, require very little maintenance and are safe in hazardous locations where electrical pumps may not be the best solution.
Jacoby Tarbox eductors are one of the most efficient eductors on the market. The eductor bodies are more robust than competitor’s products and are fully ANSI rated, the flow paths have been computer designed for optimum efficiency and the eductor profiles are machined smooth for superior performance.
How does an eductor work?
Eductors use the venturi principle to entrain a low pressure fluid with a high pressure fluid and discharge the mixture against an intermediate pressure.
An eductor converts the pressure energy of a fluid (the motive) into velocity. The motive expands through the eductor nozzle to create a vacuum and this entrains the second fluid (the suction). The two fluids mix and repressurise within the eductor to an intermediate pressure as the velocity is converted back into pressure, before discharging through the outlet nozzle.
